Is my airplane carry-on too big?

i have a suitcase that's small, one that is suitable for carry-ons. i am using it for that, but it's full! and i can close it just fine. i'm just afraid that since it's full and bulky, it won't qualify as my check-in since there is a size limit. luggage is okay as long as you can close it, right?
