Libs, are you glad to see that President Obama finally gave the Congress repubs a much deserved slap-down!?
The presidential press conference is a powerful tool to take your case to the people. Reagan did it 1994. Clinton did it in 1995. Now, Obama did it and in masterful fashion. Loved it when he said of the stalled debt ceiling talks, "I'm often amused when they say, 'the president has to show more leadership", then he cited several points of his leadership. Then he said, "They need to do their job." Talking about the Aug. 2nd deadline, he said, "My daughters are 10 and 13. In doing their homework, they don't wait until the last minute and pull all-nighters. They get it done ahead of time." There was so much more that he calmly and intelligently did to slap them down, and he even had the press corp laughing at Congress' antics. He ended saying the solution must be balanced and that the Dems are prepared to make tough decisions in spending cuts. But the republicans are dead set against any revenues, such as closing tax loopholes for the wealthy. He said “asking the American people who are already struggling, to sacrifice, again, while millionaires/billionaires, corp jet owners, and big oil achieves record profits do not sacrifice at all and instead, get MORE breaks, is just not right. The American people don’t think it’s right. If the republicans care about the people, which I believe they do, then they’ll do the right thing and support a balanced solution!”
